Asbestos Bags for Safe Removal

Asbestos waste requires the right bag type and correct handling. Our UK range covers asbestos rubble sacks, bulk bags, sheet bags, container bags and accessories for safe disposal in line with UK HSE regulations.

What is asbestos?

A natural mineral fibre still found in many UK buildings built before 2000. Commonly present in roofing, pipes, ceiling tiles and partition walls.

Why use specialist asbestos bags?

Standard rubble sacks are not suitable for asbestos. Asbestos bags prevent fibre release with a PE liner, dense PP weave, regulatory marking and secure closure compliant with UK HSE requirements.

For small asbestos debris

Asbestos rubble sacks with outer liner are the correct choice for broken tiles, rubble and small fragments. Not to be confused with standard rubble sacks.

For asbestos sheets and panels

For corrugated cement sheets, boards and flat panels. Available in multiple sizes depending on length and thickness.

For large commercial projects

For large volumes of asbestos waste on professional sites. Bulk bags and container bags available in 7m³ and 40m³.

Common product features

  • PE liner, single or double walled
  • Regulatory asbestos warning print
  • ADR Class 9 pictogram
  • Dense woven polypropylene fabric
  • Secure closure systems
Important: Asbestos removal in the UK is regulated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Licensed asbestos removal contractors (LARC) are required for most types of asbestos work. Always check with your local authority or licensed contractor before beginning any asbestos removal work.

Frequently Asked Questions

UK specific questions about asbestos bags, HSE regulations and safe disposal.

Yes in most cases. The HSE requires a licensed asbestos removal contractor (LARC) for work with asbestos insulation, asbestos insulation board and asbestos coating. Some lower risk work such as removing small amounts of asbestos cement can be done by a non-licensed contractor following strict HSE controls. Always check with the HSE or a licensed surveyor before starting any asbestos removal work.
No. Asbestos waste cannot be placed in a general skip. It must be correctly packaged in approved asbestos bags, clearly labelled and taken to a licensed hazardous waste disposal facility. Your licensed asbestos removal contractor will arrange disposal as part of the job. If disposing yourself, contact your local council or a licensed hazardous waste carrier.
Standard rubble sacks are not approved for asbestos waste. Asbestos rubble sacks have a PE liner to prevent fibre release, a dense woven polypropylene outer, regulatory asbestos warning print and an ADR Class 9 hazard pictogram. Using a standard rubble sack for asbestos is a breach of UK waste regulations.
Double bag asbestos waste where possible. Fill the inner liner first, twist the top and seal tightly with a black tie wrap. Then seal the outer bag the same way. Do not overfill past the shoulder of the bag. Label each sealed bag clearly with an asbestos warning label before moving or storing.
Householders can transport small amounts of their own asbestos waste to a licensed disposal facility without a waste carrier licence. Contractors and businesses must be registered as a licensed hazardous waste carrier with the Environment Agency. All asbestos waste must be correctly packaged in approved bags and labelled before transport.
The size depends on the length of the sheets. For sheets up to 250cm the asbestos sheet bag 250x150x30cm with double liner is the standard choice. For sheets between 250cm and 320cm the large asbestos sheet bag 320x125x30cm is available. For heavier or thicker material around 310cm the double walled 310x110x30cm bag provides extra protection.
Yes. All asbestos waste bags must be clearly labelled with the HSE approved asbestos warning label before storage or transport. Our asbestos bags come with the regulatory warning print already on the bag. Additional asbestos warning tape is available for extra labelling of bags, skips and work zones.
A standard single garage roof typically uses around 20 to 30 corrugated asbestos cement sheets. You will need approximately the same number of sheet bags plus extra rubble sacks for broken pieces and smaller debris. Order more than you think you need as unused bags can be kept for future use.
No. Asbestos bags are single use only. Once filled and sealed they must go directly to a licensed hazardous waste disposal facility. Never open, empty or reuse an asbestos bag. Doing so risks releasing hazardous fibres and is a breach of UK health and safety regulations.
Poly sheeting is used to seal off work areas during asbestos removal, covering floors, walls and surfaces to prevent fibre contamination spreading to other parts of the building. It is a standard requirement in HSE asbestos removal procedures and is used alongside warning tape to create a controlled work zone.
