Why Choose Big Bags for Waste Processing?
Big bags are an essential part of modern waste processing systems. Designed to carry volumes of up to 3 m³ and weights up to 1,500 kg, they replace dozens of small containers or sacks — saving space, improving safety, and boosting efficiency across industrial recycling operations.
📦 High-volume capacity
Collect more waste per bag, reducing the number of trips and movements needed across your facility.
🔄 Reusable construction
Woven PP bags with a 6:1 safety factor can be reused multiple times — especially when fitted with spout tops and document pockets.
📐 Space-saving design
Empty bags collapse and stack easily — ideal for limited storage areas in busy recycling facilities.
🏗️ Simple to handle
Four lifting loops allow forklift, crane, or telehandler movement with minimal strain and no special equipment.
♻️ Recyclable material
Clean, uncontaminated PP big bags can be recycled at end of life — creating a closed-loop system and reducing total waste footprint.
⚖️ Dramatically lighter packaging
A 1.5 kg bag holds up to 1,500 kg of material — a 1,000:1 strength-to-weight ratio. No other packaging format matches this efficiency.
What they are used for
Plastic Waste Recycling with Big Bags
Industries handling plastics like PET, HDPE, LDPE, PVC, PP and PS rely on big bags to sort, store, and move their material. These plastics are often shredded into small flakes and processed into new materials — and our big bags are suitable for every phase of this workflow.
Open-top bags are perfect for fast filling during collection and initial sorting. For finer materials like plastic flakes or granules, spout-top bags offer dust protection and better filling control — compatible with automated equipment, keeping your facility cleaner and your materials protected.
A 1.5 kg big bag from 123BigBags can support the processing of up to 1,500 kg of plastic recyclables — making it one of the most efficient packaging options available for the plastic recycling industry.

Big Bags for Rubber and Tyre Recycling
500–1,500 kg capacity
Reduces handling steps by allowing larger, more efficient batch processing. Ideal for transport to manufacturers of playground surfaces, synthetic turf, or asphalt products.
180 g/m² and above for sharp rubber
Specialist models with higher GSM fabric, internal coatings, or reinforced panels resist tearing or puncture from sharp rubber pieces.
Single-use or multi-use
Choose 5:1 safety factor (single-trip) or 6:1 safety factor (multi-trip certified) bags depending on your application and handling programme.
Big Bags 2 m³ and 3 m³ — For High-Volume Operations
For companies dealing with large waste volumes, we offer 2 m³ and 3 m³ big bags. These tall bags are widely used in the recycling and construction industries for maximum storage and operational efficiency — some models reach 2.5 m in height.
2 m³ Big Bag
Double the standard volume for high-throughput waste streams. Reinforced stitching and thicker fabric maintain bag stability under heavy loads. Reduces the number of bag changes per shift.
Ideal for: mixed recyclates, shredded plastics, light industrial waste
3 m³ Big Bag
Maximum volume for facilities looking to streamline sorting and reduce storage clutter. Up to 2.5 m tall — requires appropriate ceiling clearance and forklift reach. Most efficient cost-per-m³ of any bag format.
Ideal for: bulk plastic bales, light recyclables, high-volume sorting operations
Choosing Between Open-Top and Spout-Top Big Bags
The right filling option depends on your waste type and logistics needs. Both designs are compatible with lifting loops and document pockets for identification.
| Feature | Open-Top | Spout-Top |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Bulky waste — rubble, soil, coarse recyclates | Fine or dusty waste — plastic flakes, granules, powders |
| Filling method | Direct pouring, shovelling, conveyor | Automated or controlled filling nozzle |
| Dust protection | Contents exposed during filling | Tied spout keeps material sealed and protected |
| Recommended for | Short-term indoor storage, fast-fill operations | Transport, multi-use operations, automated lines |
| Cost | Lowest cost | Moderate — justified by dust control and material protection |
Choose based on your material type, exposure risks, and budget. For fine materials on automated filling lines, the spout-top always pays back — cleaner facility, less product loss, better filling control. For coarse waste in manual operations, open-top is the straightforward choice.
