What Is a Net Bag?

A net bag is a lightweight mesh bag made from Leno woven polypropylene — a strong open-weave material that allows air to pass freely through every side. Unlike solid plastic bags or standard woven PP sacks, the mesh structure creates continuous ventilation around the contents, so firewood and kindling continue to dry naturally after bagging.

Both bags come with an integrated drawstring closure for easy filling and secure transport. The material is UV stabilised and weather resistant — suitable for both indoor storage and outdoor stacking.

🌬️ What makes Leno weave different?

Unlike standard woven polypropylene — where threads are tightly woven together to create a solid surface — Leno weave creates a stable open mesh structure. Each crossing point is locked in place, allowing the openings to remain intact even when the bag is fully loaded. The result is a bag that is strong, maintains its shape under load, and breathes through every surface.

Why Ventilation Matters for Firewood

Without airflow, moisture builds up inside a bag. For firewood, that trapped moisture keeps the wood damp, increases mould risk, and reduces burning quality. Net bags prevent this by creating continuous passive airflow around every log.

🔥 Wood dries faster

The Leno mesh creates a natural chimney effect — warm, moist air rises and escapes through the top while cooler, drier air enters from below. This passive airflow actively accelerates the drying process during storage.

✅ Ready to Burn compatible

Net bags allow firewood to continue drying toward and below the 20% moisture threshold. Sealed bags trap moisture and can push certified wood fuel back above the limit during storage.

🚫 No mould risk

A standard PP bag traps moisture, creating the damp conditions mould needs. In a net bag, moisture escapes freely — mould has nowhere to take hold.

👁️ Contents fully visible

Logs are fully visible through the mesh — customers can see exactly what they are buying. The standard choice for firewood retail displays at farm shops and fuel merchants.

Applications

🪵 Firewood retailers

Store and sell firewood in breathable mesh bags. Logs dry faster, look tidy and are easy for customers to carry. The mesh keeps logs visible — customers see exactly what they are buying before they pick up the bag.

🔥 Kindling bundles

The 30L bag is the ideal size for kindling bundles sold at petrol stations, farm shops, and online. Lightweight, easy to handle, and the drawstring makes each bundle quick to fill and close on a production line.

🏠 Home firewood storage

Keep firewood organised in garages, sheds and log stores while promoting natural drying. Net bags stack neatly and take up less space than loose piles. UV stabilised PP handles outdoor stacking.

⛺ Camping & outdoor

Ideal for kindling and small log bundles. Lightweight, compact and easy to hang — net bags are practical for outdoor use where both portability and ventilation matter.

🌳 Firewood seasoning

Stack filled net bags outdoors during seasoning — the mesh allows wind and air to pass through from every direction, accelerating the drying process. Stack no more than 2 high and keep under cover where possible.

🛒 Retail display

The fully visible mesh makes net bags ideal for point-of-sale display. Customers can assess log size, species and quality through the bag — no need to open it. Standard for garden centres, fuel merchants and supermarket forecourts.
