Standard big bags cannot be used for asbestos waste

Asbestos is classified as a Class 9 dangerous good (UN 2590). Only UN 13B/III certified bags with a sealed PE inner liner meet the legal packaging requirements for asbestos waste across the EU and UK. Using a non-certified bag is illegal and creates serious liability.

What Are Asbestos Skip Bags?

Asbestos container bags — also called asbestos skip bags — are large-format UN-certified FIBCs designed to fit inside standard skip containers and roll-on/roll-off containers used on large construction and demolition sites. Working with large amounts of asbestos being removed? Our skip bags fit perfectly inside 20-yard containers and are a popular choice among asbestos removal companies across Europe.

Unlike standard big bags, every asbestos bag from 123BigBags is engineered specifically for hazardous waste containment — with a sealed inner PE liner as the primary fibre barrier, a heavy-duty woven PP outer bag for mechanical protection, UN 13B/III certification for ADR road transport, and mandatory hazard printing in four languages.

🔒 PE liner — sealed inner barrier

The sealed inner PE liner is the primary barrier preventing any asbestos fibre release. It must be heat-sealed — not just tied — before the outer bag is closed. Available in single or double-wall construction.

📋 UN 13B/III certification

Independently tested and certified for Class 9 dangerous goods transport. The UN mark on every bag confirms ADR compliance. UN test certificate and Certificate of Conformance supplied with every delivery.

🏷️ Mandatory hazard labelling

Official ASBEST / GEVAARLIJK AFVAL / ASBESTOS printing in four languages, ADR Class 9 pictogram, and PP recycling code 5 — compliant with EU and UK requirements.

📦 Skip container compatible

Dimensions matched to standard 7 m³, 17.5 m³ and 40 m³ skip containers. The bag sits inside the skip — protecting the container from contamination and allowing liner sealing before removal.

🌍 EU & UK approved

Compliant with current European Union regulations and UK requirements for asbestos waste packaging. Suitable for use in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, the UK and across Europe.

📄 Full documentation included

UN test certificate, Certificate of Conformance and product data sheet supplied with every delivery. Essential for waste manifests, processing facility acceptance, and your duty-of-care records.
