What are big bags made of?

Big Bags or FIBCs (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers) are made of various synthetic plastic fabrics that are 100% recyclable:

  • Polypropylene (PP) is used to make the bags: a lightweight type of plastic that does not lose its strength with temperature change, durable and tear-proof.

  • Woven Polyethylene (PE) is used to make liners: a  fabric that dries quickly and withstands toil and stains.

These synthetic plastic fabrics are extensively used in the packaging industry. The plastic is melted down at very high temperatures. Then it is molded into long strips that will be woven to create a strong plastic lattice.
