Bulk Bags Capacity - Guide:

The capacity of a bulk bag is simple concept to understand. The capacity of a bulk bag is a number given in cubic meters that represents how much sandgravel or other building materials can fit into a bag. The easiest way to calculate this is to multiply the width, length, and height of the bulk bag together. Here at 123BigBags we provide these 3 figures in the title of every one of our products.

Occasionally other industry professionals will talk about the capacity of a bulk bag in terms of cubic foot. Below is a table that shows some common conversions between a cubic meter and a cubic foot.

 Cubic Meters  Cubic Feet
 0.25m³  8.83ft³
 0.5m³  17.66ft³
 0.75m³  26.49ft³
 1m³  35.31ft³
 1.5m³  52.97ft³
 2m³  70.63ft³

One last thing to take into account is the bulging effect that all bulk bags undergo. This is the process by which the materials inside the bag push against the bags walls causing its capacity to slightly increase. This process is completely safe, expected and taken account of in calculations. This is why most of our written capacities are slightly higher than the traditional calculation would show. The bulge effect can cause a significant increase in volume for many bags. The picture below demonstrates this by showing how far a 90x90x90 ton bag will extend past its original dimensions.
